In the "Program Events" window, scroll down until you see "Device Connect" and click on that to select it.Go to Control Panel and set the view (upper right corner) to "Small icons".If you aren't sure of what you're listening for, you can hear the sound effects as follows: You should hear the two-tone "Device connect" sound. With the printer connected to your computer, turn off the printer. In my reply to your question about "offline" status, I asked if you hear the sound effects when you connect the printer. I suspect that's why the troubleshooter wants you to set the Fax functionality of the device as the default printer.

It seems that for some reason, Windows is having a problem communicating with your printer. I am at the point of buying a new printer if I thought that would fix the problem, but I'm afraid I'll just be $500 poorer with the same exact problem.I've never found the Windows "troubleshooters" to be particularly helpful. It is connected to my 5G wireless network and I can print from a variety of devices in my home with no problems (iphone, iMac). I have a Canon MG6220 printer that I have used for years with no problems. I have spent about 10 hours trying to solve this problem, and it's very frustrating.
